Should I wash my hair before my hair color appointment?

Yes & No. I know, confusing right?! So here's the deal...if your hair is freshly washed & you receive an on-scalp color service, this can irritate your scalp. The natural oils in your scalp help protect it from any irritation. So in this case I would say do not wash your hair before. However, products like dry shampoos & tinting powders/mascaras(for grey coverage) these can block color from penetrating the cuticle & resulting in uneven color. Please do not come with these products in your hair or I cannot guarantee your color service. My best recommendation for optimal color is to wash with a clarifying shampoo 1-2 days before your service. This removes any product/mineral build-up you may have on your hair to prep your hair for the service.

How long do the fantasy colors last?

Results vary person to person. There are several factors that influence the longevity of these fun colors. How dark/light the colors are, the porosity of the hair, exposure to the sun, type shampoo & conditioner used, heat styling, how often you wash, etc.

For maximum longevity, I recommend to use the sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner recommended, washing with cool temperature water no more that 3 times/week, and style with a lower temperature on any hot tool used. Exposing your hair to heat will open the cuticle & the color will fade faster. The lighter colors like the pastels fade out the fastest, whereas the darker colors tend to stay longer in the hair.
